IT’S TIME TO COME HOME

Imagine the thrill, the excitement when you discover where they lived and worked. What made them leave the land of their forebears? Nowadays we think nothing of traveling thousands of miles. In days gone by how must your ancestors have felt as they left their native shores, knowing full well that family and friends might never be seen again.    

Margaret Crawford 1832-1895 wrote the following. 

THE EMIGRANTS FAREWELL

Land of my fathers, I leave thee in sadness

Far from my dear native country I roam;

Fondly I cling to the bright scenes of gladness,

That shone o'er my heart in my dear happy home.
